Finolex Cables produces Continuous Cast Copper Rod conforming to ASTM B-49 using LME Grade A Copper Cathode.CC Rod production is based on Essex Concast technology. Great care is taken of the products both during production and after, when rods are coated with wax to prevent surface oxidation during storage and shipment. The desired metallurgical structure is achieved through controlled cooling at the casting machine. Surface damage while handling and transportation is prevented through a superior packing method.
What gives Essex CONCAST technology a competitive edge? |
| |
- Use of Digital Control System for process parameters and Computer
Controlled Monitoring.
- Careful control of casting temperature and oxygen content in the molten metal results in proper chemistry.
- Correct metal levels are maintained in casting mould through a unique Siphon Metal Pouring System.
- Desired metallurgical structure is achieved through controlled cooling at the casting machine.
- Slag and refractory inclusions are removed by attaching a slag trap to launders.
- Oxide scales are thoroughly removed by injecting soluble oil at high pressures.
- Grain refining and stress reduction is ensured through the controlled Hot Rolling process.
- Unique ESSEX designed “No twist “ rolling mill with vertical and horizontal rollers made up of heat treated alloy steel ,ensures straight line rolling. Minimum tension between two stands is maintained to improve rod quality.
- Alcohol pickling minimizes residual surface oxide levels.
- Rods are coated with wax to prevent surface oxidation during storage and shipment.
- Surface damage while handling and transportation is prevented through superior packaging methods.
- And finally the Essex designed mill is extremely simple to operate and maintain, making it possible for to produce India's most advanced Continuous Cast Copper Rod.

Salient Features of Continuous Cast Copper Rod.
|
| |
- Conductivity of the rod is excellent.
- Impressive elongation and no brittleness.
- Possesses extremely low surface oxide levels due to effective alcohol pickling.
- Coated with wax to prevent oxidation.
- Consistency in structure and composition throughout coil length.
- Produced in longer lengths, reducing welding frequency and increasing productivity.
- Contains no welds thereby reducing scrap generation.
- For ensuring smooth surface without any imperfections like slivers, cracks etc and also without ferrous particles .The finished copper rod is scanned using modern Eddy current Instrument. This goes a long way to ensure excellent productivity in multi spindle wire drawing machines ensuring minimum number of wirebreaks.
